    Jeanne was born in McAlester Oklahoma on February 25th, 1918. She grew up in McAlester, and met Gene at the University of Arkansas in the era of the Big Bands.

On one of their first dates, Gene called up an Indigo Bunting to the tree limb above her. She knew then that he was the man for her.

She was married in Fayetteville on February 8, 1941, graduating with a Major in Chemistry and Minor in Math, ready to be a school teacher.

When Gene got out of service in 1947 they moved to Harrison, Arkansas. By 1948 they had three children Peggy age 8, Patsy age 4, and Donald Jr. newborn.

Jeanne was the first woman on the Harrison School Board, serving 5 years. Jeanne also worked for the phone company several years. Moving to Little Rock in 1960 because Gene's job (which had been working all over the state, now Chief of Game Management), required Gene to be in Little Rock.

Jeanne now started teaching school at Joe T. Robinson Highschool, also homebound teaching for ill students. She was sponsor of Student Council, Teens for Christ, Honor Society, AFS Foreign exchange student program.

During her teaching career, Jeanne went on to school to get her Masters in Math and had enough hours for her doctorate.

They moved back to Gene's home ground of Newton County in 1979, building an underground retirement home atop a mountain overlooking Jasper.

Traveling the country for almost 10 years with friends in the Avion Travelcade Club, from Alaska to Florida, they led many tours, occasionally returning to home in Newton County.

Jeanne has been a member of Order of the Eastern Star since 1936 and is still active as secretary of the Harrison #25 chapter. She is also active in two EHC Extension Homemaker Clubs.

Jeanne, who is now 81 goes with friends to the nursing home to sing hymms and visit the residents (many of whom are younger than she is), at least once a month.

Jeanne teaches AARP drivers education 55 Alive twice a year.

Jeanne has been active in church since she was child and is a active member of the First Christian Church in Jasper.

Jeanne still loves to travel and has many trips planed for the future.
